Blood Soul Skills (魂血スキル, Tamashī Chi Sukiru) are buffs that come into effect when the Lick command is used on another Blood Maiden. The target's buffs will be applied, either to the party or the Licker. Generally, the skills that affect the entire party are the most useful, but other aspects, such as Character Skills and Massacre Skills should be considered when picking party members. All the Blood Soul Skills will be a net positive, but different players will get more or less mileage out of each depending on the party load-out and strategies used.
Blood Soul Skills have three levels. They increase in level when the respective character reaches certain level markers. In Mary Skelter: Nightmares, the skills level up when the character reaches level 20 and 40. In Mary Skelter: Finale, the skills level up when the character reaches level 15 and 30. Some characters have kept their Blood Soul Skills for each game in the series, such as Rapunzel, while others have had their Blood Soul Skills changed throughout the games, such as Red Riding Hood.
Blood Soul Skills[]
Alice[]
Alice has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- EX Heal Lv.1: Restore a small amount of your HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- EX Heal Lv.2: Restore a large amount of your HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- EX Heal Lv.3: Fully restore your HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.EX Heal Lv.3: Fully restore your HP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Recovery: Remove all ailments from all party members (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Recovery Lv.1: Remove Skill Seal from all party members. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Recovery Lv.2: Remove all of your ailments. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Recovery Lv.3: Remove all ailments from all party members. (Mary Skelter Finale)
The first skill is a single target health buff. At its highest level, it can fully heal the Licker. It is good for a quick heal, but as Cinderella's Nightmares Blood Soul Skill is a party-wide heal, it may be worth choosing her if you are relying on the skills for healing. Additionally, Little Mermaid also has B.S.EX Heal as her Blood Soul Skill in Nightmares, but since she is a post-game bonus, it does not require much consideration.
The second heals all status ailments from all party members. While this may seem situational, toward the end game when Alice joins the party, more enemies will have and use poisoning and stun infliction moves, with some having Infection on it. Thus her Blood Soul Skill becomes very useful, especially in the Tower Base. Interestingly, the skill switches from a party wide heal for one status, to a single target heal for all statuses, to a party wide heal for all statuses.
Oddly enough, Alice and Hameln's Blood Soul Skills are the exact same but switched between games. This can be chalked up to the fact that they are the first and last characters gained in either game.
Red Riding Hood[]
Red Riding Hood has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- Regeneration Lv.1: Temporarily regenerate a small amount of party HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Regeneration Lv.2: Temporarily regenerate a fair amount of party HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Regeneration Lv.3: Temporarily regenerate a large amount of party HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Regeneration Lv.3: Temporarily regenerate a large amount of party HP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Fast Action: Speeds up the target's Turn (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Fast Action Lv.1: Slightly raises target’s Turn speed. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Fast Action Lv.2: Raises target’s Turn speed. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Fast Action Lv.3: Greatly raises target’s Turn speed. (Mary Skelter Finale)
The first skill is a party-wide health buff that heals small amounts per turn. While it is a useful skill, it is unlikely that it will save any party members that are close to K.O., so it is a skill that needs to be utilized before anything becomes too dire. It is the same as Little Mermaid's Blood Soul Skill in Mary Skelter 2.
Her second skill can be incredibly useful, as it can allow certain characters to pull off much-needed attacks, buffs, or healing before the enemy can take their turn.
Thumbelina[]
Thumbelina's Blood Soul Skill is the same in all games, but the wording is slightly different and is listed below:
- Resist Magic Lv.1: Slightly reduce magical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Resist Magic Lv.2: Reduce magical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Resist Magic Lv.3: Greatly reduce magical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Magic Guard Lv.3: Reduce magical damage to your party (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Magic Guard: Temp. reduce party's magic damage received (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Magic Guard Lv.1: Temp. slightly reduce party’s magic damage received (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Magic Guard Lv.2: Temp. reduce party’s magic damage received. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Magic Guard Lv.3: Temp. greatly reduce party’s magic damage received. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her Blood Soul Skill can be very useful, especially in areas with enemies with high TEC or in parties with members with low MEN. As Thumbelina generally has fairly high MEN, she usually doesn't directly benefit from the buff, but any damage mitigation can be helpful.
Snow White[]
- Prayer Lv.1: Recover a small amount of your SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Prayer Lv.2: Recover a fair amount of your SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Prayer Lv.3: Recover a large amount of your SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Prayer Lv.3: Recover a large amount of your SP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Prayer Lv.1: Recover a small amount of your SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Prayer Lv.2: Recover a fair amount of your SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Prayer Lv.3: Recover a large amount of your SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her skill is a single-target SP buff, with the highest level fully restoring the Licker's SP. While it is great for quick regeneration, her skill is overshadowed by the full party SP restoration from Gretel in Nightmares and Cinderella in the second game. However, her Blood Soul Skill can still be very useful as it restores more than the other two for the single target.
Otsuu shares her Blood Soul Skill in Nightmares, but as she is a post-game bonus, it is not something that has to be considered during the game.
Sleeping Beauty[]
- Proofing Lv.1: All allies gain Critical rate boost for next Turn (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Proofing Lv.2: Large Critical boost to allies for next Turn (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Proofing Lv.3: Guaranteed Critical on all allies' next attack (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Proofing Lv.3: Guaranteed Critical on all allies' next attack (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Proofing Lv.1: All allies gain Critical rate boost for next Turn. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Proofing Lv.2: Large Critical boost to allies for next Turn. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Proofing Lv.3: Guaranteed Critical on all allies’ next Attack. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her skill is a party-wide buff that increases Critical rate. As it is broadcasted more clearly in the second game, it is far more noticeable there, but it is a significant increase in Critical rate and should be considered when choosing your party, especially if it is built around getting as many criticals as possible.
Kaguya[]
Kaguya's Blood Soul Skill is the same in both games, but the wording is slightly different and is listed below:
- Hollow Vision Lv.1: Slight hit/evasion boost for all allies (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Hollow Vision Lv.2: Hit and evasian boost for all allies (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Hollow Vision Lv.3: Large hit/evasion boost for all allies (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Hollow Vision Lv.3: Large hit/evasion boost for all allies (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Hollow Vision: Temp. boost party's hit and evade rate (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Hollow Vision Lv.1: Temp. slightly boost party’s hit and evade rate. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Hollow Vision Lv.2: Temp. boost party’s hit and evade rate. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Hollow Vision Lv.3: Temp. greatly boost party’s hit and evade rate. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her skill is another party-wide buff, but as it is something that cannot be accurately seen, it is difficult to determine how effective it really is. Nonetheless, it can be useful if the party is in a pinch health-wise or against enemies that do AOE attacks for easier dodging.
Cinderella[]
Cinderella has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- Healia Lv.1: Restore a small amount of the party's HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Healia Lv.2: Restore a fair amount of the party's HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Healia Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party's HP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Healia Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party's HP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Full Prayer: Restore an amount of the party's SP (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Full Prayer Lv.1: Restore a small amount of the party’s SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Full Prayer Lv.2: Restore a fair amount of the party’s SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Full Prayer Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party’s SP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Cinderella has two party-wide restorations, with the first being for HP and the second being for SP. As such, both can be incredibly useful, ultimately being an easier heal than Alice and Snow White's Blood Soul Skills respectively. However, at full level, Cinderella's will not fully heal the entire party, while the other two can at the highest level, so there is still come usefulness from them that Cinderella cannot obtain.
Oddly enough, Cinderella and Gretel's Blood Soul Skills are the exact same but switched between games.
Rapunzel[]
- Resist Attack Lv.1: Slightly reduce physical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Resist Attack Lv.2: Reduce physical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Resist Attack Lv.3: Greatly reduce physical damage to your party (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Attack Guard Lv.3: Greatly reduce physical damage to your party (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Attack Guard Lv.1: Slightly reduce party’s physical damage received. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Attack Guard Lv.2: Temp. reduce party’s physical damage received. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Attack Guard Lv.3: Temp. greatly reduce party’s physical damage received. (Mary Skelter Finale)
The counterpart to Thumbelina's Magic Guard, Rapunzel's Blood Soul Skill can be very useful when the party is in a pinch, has many party members with low DEF, or in an area with enemies with high ATK. Unlike Thumbelina, Rapunzel does not necessarily have high DEF, so she can benefit from the buff as well.
Gretel[]
Gretel has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- Full Prayer Lv.1: Restore a small amount of the party's SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Full Prayer Lv.2: Restore a fair amount of the party's SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Full Prayer Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party's SP (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Full Prayer Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party's SP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Healia: Restore an amount of the party's HP (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Healia Lv.1: Restore a small amount of the party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Healia Lv.2: Restore a fair amount of the party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Healia Lv.3: Restore a large amount of the party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Gretel has two party-wide restorations, with the first being for SP and the second being for HP. As such, both can be incredibly useful, ultimately being an easier heal than Snow White and Hameln's Blood Soul Skills respectively. However, at full level, Gretel's will not fully heal the entire party, while the other two can at the highest level, so there is still come usefulness from them that Gretel cannot obtain.
Oddly enough, Cinderella and Gretel's Blood Soul Skills are the exact same but switched between games.
Hameln[]
Hameln has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- Recovery Lv.1: Remove Skill Seal from all party members (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Recovery Lv.2: Remove all of your ailments (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- Recovery Lv.2: Remove all ailments from all party members (Nightmares PC/Vita)
- B.S.Recovery Lv.3: Remove all ailments from all party members (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.EX Heal: Recover an amount of your HP (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.EX Heal Lv.1: Restore a small amount of your HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.EX Heal Lv.2: Restore a large amount of your HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.EX Heal Lv.3: Fully restore your HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
The first heals all status ailments from all party members. While this may seem situational, toward the end game when Hameln joins the party, more enemies will have and use poisoning and stun infliction moves, with some having Infection on it. Thus her Blood Soul Skill becomes very useful.
The second skill is a single target health buff. At its highest level, it can fully heal the Licker. It is good for a quick heal, but as Gretel's Mary Skelter 2 Blood Soul Skill is a party-wide heal, it may be worth choosing her if you are relying on the skills for healing.
Oddly enough, Alice and Hameln's Blood Soul Skills are the exact same but switched between games. This can be chalked up to the fact that they are the first and last characters gained in either game.
Otsuu[]
Otsuu has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- B.S.Prayer Lv.3: Recover a large amount of your SP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Princess Shield: Creates a shield to protect the party (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Princess Shield Lv.1: Creates a weak shield to protect the party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Princess Shield Lv.2: Creates a modest shield to protect the party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Princess Shield Lv.3: Creates a shield to protect the party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her first skill is the exact same as Snow White's, but as she is a post-game bonus character in Nightmares, the usefulness of the skill is likely irrelevant as there is no more story to explore.
Her skill in the second game is much more useful, as it will block any attack to any member of the party, no matter how much damage it would've done. It is very useful in boss fights and against any enemy with high damage output. The duration of the shield lasts longer as the skill level goes up.
Little Mermaid[]
Little Mermaid has two different Blood Soul Skills depending on the game.
- B.S.EX Heal Lv.3: Fully restore your HP (Nightmares Remake)
- B.S.Regeneration: Temporarily regenerate an amount of party HP (Mary Skelter 2)
- B.S.Regeneration Lv.1: Temporarily regenerate a small amount of party HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Regeneration Lv.2: Temporarily regenerate a fair amount of party HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Regeneration Lv.3: Temporarily regenerate a large amount of party HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Her first skill is the exact same as Alice's, but as she is a post-game bonus character in Nightmares, the usefulness of the skill is likely irrelevant as there is no more story to explore.
The first skill is a party-wide health buff that heals small amounts per turn. While it is a useful skill, it is unlikely that it will save any party members that are close to K.O., so it is a skill that needs to be utilized before anything becomes too dire. It is the same as Red Riding Hood's Blood Soul Skill in Nightmares.
Charlotte[]
- B.S.External Lv.1: Recover a small amount of party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.External Lv.2: Recover a fair amount of the party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.External Lv.3: Recover a large amount of the party’s HP. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Charlotte's skill functions the exact same as B.S.Healia.
Mary[]
- B.S. Match Bet Lv.1: Increase own accuracy and Critical rate slightly. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S. Match Bet Lv.2: Increase own accuracy and Critical rate slightly. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S. Match Bet Lv.3: Increase party’s accuracy and Critical rate slightly. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Mary's skill is similar to Kaguya's and Sleeping Beauty's skills, but is weaker than both of them. The skill's description is the exact same for Lv.1 and Lv.2.
Pyre[]
- B.S.Punisher Lv.1: Revives whole party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Punisher Lv.2: Revives whole party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
- B.S.Punisher Lv.3: Revives whole party. (Mary Skelter Finale)
Pyre's skill can be very useful in a pinch, however she must be alive to have access to the skill, so it is ultimately situational. The skill's description is the same for all levels of the skill. It may increase the amount of HP the characters revive with at higher levels, though I haven't tested this.
