The D. Nightmare assaults the party about mid-way through the first layer, surprising them since it usually take longer for them to run into an area's Nightmare. Cinderella notices that she lost her earring while running away from it, and starts to panic. The rest of the group convinces her to continue by saying they'll search for it while they explore the dungeon. The next time they run into the D. Nightmare, it is discovered that the earring is attached to it, so they must defeat it to get it back.
After it is defeated, it is discovered that it can speak similarly to the T. Nightmare. It speaks into a small black box, crudely apologizing to Snark before falling over. Jack notices that it will crush Cinderella's earring, and rushes over to grab it, nearly being wounded in the process. He passes out but manages to save the earring.
The D. Nightmare does not hold much story relevance, with the focus of the dungeon being more on Cinderella's Mimic, the Marchen boss of the area instead.

Trivia[]
Underneath the pumpkin-like exterior of the D. Nightmare in Mary Skelter 2 is the head of a woman with three faces, likely a reference to Cinderella's step-mother and two step-sisters.
