After the party defeats the Love Nightmare, the Upper Tower Nightmare appears to take advantage of the group's exhaustion, near immediately killing Alice who was vainly protecting a dying Jack. As they ascend in a desperate attempt to run away, it widdles down the group, first killing Thumbelina, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, then moving on to kill Kaguya, Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and a near Blood SkelterRapunzel, before finally falling at the hands of Gretel and Hameln, but not before killing the former and dealing a mortal wound to the latter.

The Tower Base Nightmare and Upper Tower Nightmare are references to the giant and his wife from Jack and the Beanstalk.
The game makes no distinction in name between the Upper Tower Nightmare and its counterpart, Tower Base Nightmare.
On the PC version of Mary Skelter : Nightmares, one particular audio file heard while fighting this monster is composed of an extremely loud oversaturated sound. It is unknown if this was made intentionally or if it's an error spawned by a corrupted file.
